The Rio Hotel In Las Vegas…?

I have read reviews (good and bad) about the Rio in Las Vegas. I was made an "offer I couldn’t refuse" for the Rio. I will be going in May. Any suggestions as to things to do at the Rio? What were your experiences (good and bad) at the Rio? Are there any other hotels within reasonable walking distance? I will be there for three days, any activities I "should NOT miss" in Vegas?
